Fall Times at Barton Hill Farms!

We’ve been looking for a fun fall activity to do with our daughter and we found just that at  Barton Hill Farms.  It’s a real gem!  Not only is it located on an idyllic stretch of land along side the Colorado River (between Bastrop and Austin), there are oodles of fun activities for children.
.

Get lost in a 5-acre corn maze while enjoying live music by up-and-coming Texas Country artists.  Moms and Dads can kick back with a brew overlooking the banks of the Colorado River while kids search for the perfect pumpkin to take home, climb atop hay bale pyramids, play frontier games in a replica of the ol’ Wilbarger fort, and explore theLively, Stephen F. Austin’s lost sailing ship fabled to be taken by pirates, lost at sea, or perhaps even shipwrecked on the high banks of the Colorado River outside Bastrop.”

Our daughter loved the sunken pirate ship and had a great time picking out and painting her very own pumpkin, but the hay bale pyramid was her favorite–seriously, it could have entertained her for hours.  We had to peel her away!

There were photo-ops galore for parents.  The hay bale swing seemed to be a really popular option to shoot the perfect fall photo and was pretty popular with the kids, too!

After partaking in all the fun activities, we spread out one of the complimentary blankets they lend for use while enjoying the farm and listened to some great live music.

Barton Hill Farms is open Saturdays and Sundays, 9 a.m. to Dusk, through November 18th.
