Gorgeous Millie: Teacher Led Playgroup

Gorgeous Millie is the brainchild of J.C. Conklin and Laura Jacks.  The two founded the teacher led playgroup, located in Davenport Village, on the premise that they wanted a place “that has music, art and free play wrapped up in one morning. A place where moms can sit on couches and sip a latte while they talk and supervise play.”

I attend Gorgeous Millie with my 2-year old daughter twice a week and love the sense of community and laid-back atmosphere.  She gets the benefit of a “pre-preschool”, playing, learning, and making friends, and I get to be there with her, observing her and socializing with other moms and caregivers.  As a stay at home mom, I also really value the play dates, mom’s night outs, and Toddler Book Club that have all come out of our experience there.

Each morning consists of free play, circle time, healthy snack, an art project, and story time.  In addition, resident children’s musician, Mr. Will (Dupuy), entertains the children three times a week.   Whitney, the lead teacher, devises a new theme and play-based curriculum each week.  She’s wonderful and my daughter truly adores her ( I think she’s pretty great, too).

Gorgeous Millie is a teacher led playgroup – pre-preschool – for children 0 to 3 years old, regularly meeting September through May. Parents choose to come up to  two or three mornings a week. The days may vary each week. Summer camps will be available in June and July.”
